Xiaoyong Wang along with his team of experts presented a research study entitled, “Enhancing Anti-Inflammation Activity Of Curcumin Through O/W Emulsions”. Brookhaven Instruments’ NanoBrook 90Plus Particle Size Analyzer assisted the researchers as they studied ways to curb the disadvantages from approaches that improved the solubility and bioavailability of curcumin.
Brookhaven’s NanoBrook 90Plus Particle Size Analyzer determined the morphology and droplet size of the oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions used in this study. This study was able to demonstrate the preparation of O/W nanoemulsion of different sizes and encapsulation of curcumin to improve its anti-inflammation activity. Because of the findings, further research was initiated to evaluate pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of curcumin encapsulated in O/W emulsions.
The study is significant to research involving curcumin in both biological and pharmacological activities. Curcumin is reported to have antioxidant, antitumor, and anti-inflammatory anticarcinogenics. It also contains free radical scavenger properties and can serve as a potent agent against diseases like anorexia, cough, diabetes, hepatic disorders, rheumatism and Alzheimer’s disease.
In order to attain precise and useful research data for nanomaterial studies, experts should use only reliable and precise equipment. Brookhaven Instruments provides sophisticated and reliable particle size analyzers such as the NanoBrook 90Plus Particle Size Analyzer.
