Brookhaven’s BI-XDC and NanoBrook ZetaPlus were used in a study entitled “Rheological Characteristics of Zirconia Slurries of Gel-Casting of A Fixed Partial Denture (FPD) Framework”, which was featured in the Journal of Ceramic Processing Research. The study aimed to identify the conditions of preparing stable slips with high solid content in the production of aqueous gel-casting FPD frameworks and the slurry properties correlating with the framework.

The researchers prepared submicrometer zirconium powder, measured with the BI-XDC, mixed with distilled water to determine the optimum conditions to stabilize slurries with high solid content. The zeta potentials of the diluted zirconia suspensions were then calculated from the electrophoretic mobility and measured using a Zeta Plus Analyzer. From the measurements, the researchers were able to determine the ideal optimal conditions for slurry that met the demands of an aqueous gel-casting process.

The BI-XDC and ZetaPus Analyzer are among Brookhaven Instruments’ accurate, easy-to-use and efficient line of equipment. To provide scientists and researchers with precise and fast data, Brookhaven Instruments offers high quality and state-of-the-art tools.
