"What is Particle Size?"

Product Selection Guide

For Particle Size Analysis:

Brookhaven offers instruments for sizing proteins, polymers, nanoparticles and colloids using dynamic light scattering (DLS) or disc centrifugation. Select the 90Plus for DLS and the BI-DCP or BI-XDC for disc centrifugation.

For Zeta Potential:

Brookhaven offers instruments for determining zeta potential in either aqueous or nonaqeous suspension. Two methods of characterization include electrophoretic light scattering (ELS, also known as Doppler Shift spectroscopy, ZetaPlus) or phase analysis light scattering (PALS, ZetaPALS). Brookhaven also offers an autotitrator option, the BI-ZTU, that allows automated determination of the effect of pH or
additive on zeta potential and particle size.

For Molecular Weight Determination:

Brookhaven offers instruments and options for the batch-mode determination of absolute molecular weight by static light scattering: the BI-MwA, the BI-200SM, and the 90PDP option on the 90Plus. Relative molecular weight can be determined using the Mark-Houwink-Sakurada equation and the translational diffusion coefficient obtained from the 90Plus.

For Chromatography Analysis:

Brookhaven offers four different chromatography detectors: SLS, RI, DLS, and Viscometry. Choose either individual detectors or a complete chromatography system. Software is available for SEC/GPC, commonly used to determine the molecular weight distribution (MWD) for synthetic polymers and for ASEC, absolute size exclusion chromatography, used to determine the MWD of proteins and their
aggregates.

Bi-200SM Laser Light Scattering Goniometer

For Research Light Scattering Equipment:

Brookhaven offers the BI-200SM goniometer and TurboCorr digital autocorrelator and photon counter. These high-end, research-grade instruments provide the flexibility, reliability and precision needed in a laboratory instrument for multiangle, static and dynamic light scattering. Choose from an APD or cross correlation detector.
